1 . 1 HISTORY

Zenith Lender Plc is known as a Nigerian financial institution based in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. It was established in May 1990 to become a community limited company in September 2004 and had an initial public offering upon Nigerian Stock market (NSE) for the 21st of October of the same year. About 6th July, 2004, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), with the Bankers Committee Meetings declared its plan to comprehensively change the Nigerian banking system. The plan, which in turn had a 13-point reform schedule, allowed for a great increment in bank's capital base or perhaps shareholders' funds to N25bn. (Ezeoha, 2007). With the requirement that after the consolidation in 2005, emerging Nigerian banking companies would have enough financial muscle to expand into the Western African Financial systems in search of purchase avenues for huge accumulated capital.
